Welcome to Mail Services
CMS provides campus mail distribution, centralized mail metering, and courier services. CMS is generally an internal service for the Cornell Ithaca campus.
Campus mail is the official university intra-campus mail service. We distribute mail between departments and staff throughout the Ithaca campus from mailroom to mailroom.
Centralized mail metering is a convenient and economical way for departments to send letters and packages by US Mail or UPS. Contact us to request a Mail Metering or UPS form to start using the service.
The US Postal Service, UPS, and FedEx carriers deliver and pick up mail and packages from most mailrooms around campus. Parents and students should contact the SAS Campus Life department directly concerning mail and packages sent to Cornell dorm / residences.
♦Most Frequent Question: USPS tracking shows my package as delivered but it’s not at my mailroom where it is? Generally the US Mail scans packages for Cornell as delivered while they are at the local Post Office. It usually takes 1-3 additional days before the Post Office delivers it to a Cornell mailroom. Cornell is one of the few Universities that has direct US Mail delivery to designated mailrooms around the Ithaca campus. Mail arrives at mailrooms unsorted so please allow time for your mail staff to sort and distribute.
♦Message on Cornell Addresses: Please note that in most cases the Cornell emergency response physical street addresses for campus buildings are not recognized postal addresses. If you are using a physical street address for online shipping make sure to include your Building Name on the second address line to assure delivery.
For mail-related questions, concerns, or to notify us of changes in your building or department that will impact your mail please email us: firstname.lastname@example.org or call 607-254-8284.
